One side is a self-healing mat with 1/8th increments in white and inch markings in black. A sharp craft knife is recommended on this side rather than a rotary cutter. The other side has a shiny surface in which scor-tape can be easily removed from the surface. This is not a silicon backing. It is recommended that you do not apply direct heat from any source. This scor-mat fits perfectly into the scor-pal.
